It’s been a while since did a longer update so here’s one. If you read the daily updates, you knew that this week I was having a photo shoot to help promote the campaign on Monday. Due to the rain it was pushed back a day, so Tuesday I pulled out a pop-up shade, brought out an extension cord, two printers, and 1800 ear savers for my shoot! I don’t like to keep stock, but I made an exception this time since the photo shoot would help bring more awareness to my campaign. That night, I spent almost 5 hours setting up over 1200 ear savers on my floor and using my overhead LEDs to make a cool disco/dance floor effect. Videos are on my Facebook page.

Wednesday, I sent out 2160 ear savers, adding 3 new states to the list of recipients. New York was the first one and received 1000. Second was Virginia where my cousin lives, and they are donating the 200 to a local hospital. Lastly was Washington State who also received 200. 200 went to Glenbrook and Lutheran General Hospitals, with 175 more going to Ottawa, Illinois. Finally, I drove to a nursing home down the street from the college I graduated from to drop off 185 more.

I get a few thank you messages from people I send Ear Savers to, a couple even send a picture or two of them wearing an ear saver for my updates. But the nursing home I dropped off to went above and beyond, making a little wreath on top of a thank you paper and sending that to me. It really warmed my heart and I hope it does the same to you! Their pictures are the first two.

Right before I started typing this update, I got a text message from a worker at a hospital I previously donated to. They want to do an over the phone interview with me tomorrow to talk about why I chose to print ear savers for hospitals! I’m excited, as it is being posted on LinkedIn! I hope this might help me find a job that I can do safely during the pandemic. I have asthma and my dad has a compromised immune system so I can’t leave the house because the virus can literally kill me, and if I bring it back it will literally kill him so just remember that every time you put a mask on you are our heroes. I’ve been struggling to find work, let alone design/drafting telecommuting jobs so I can work without being in a bubble suit all day. And keep 3D printing to help even more people!

As of right now, all health care worker requests have been filled and filed. I have a small request for a food bank that I’ll be dropping off tomorrow, then printing stock until a large request comes in. Please keep sharing my campaign so those in need can reach out to me. Please keep those donations coming in. We’re still in the green, but only slightly. We can go into the red a little, but once the material runs out I’m going to have to start selling these and looking for online orders to float the campaign.
