LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, RETURNING TO THE WORKSHOP, AFTER BEING DOWN FOR TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTY EIGHT CONSECUTIVE HOURS, I PRESENT TO YOU, THE FULLY OPERATIONAL MAKERBOT REPLICATOR 2!!!!!
Ok cheesyness aside I am so incredibly happy to have my main printer back up and running. I also modified the print file: I had been printing at 100% base size, on a slight angle to layer the ear savers left to right 7 times. I shrunk them by about 4%, which allowed me to the ear savers vertically, taking up a smaller footprint. The reductions in scale and keeping all of them as close together allowed me to fit TEN ON A SINGLE PLATE, increase material consumption by 1g, and when compared to the single non holey print (v1) it is still 2 minutes faster! 74 vs 72 minutes.
The print is still 3 layers wide and 2 shells thick, so that has not changed. I wore these new ones and the only change is it is a little less flexible since it is about a quarter of an inch shorter. This can be remedied with a little heat from a hair dryer and contouring the ear saver to your head.
The 2nd picture is the cable that was replaced. The 3rd picture is the filament waiting to be turned into what I can roughtly assume to be 10,500 more ear savers.
Thank you to all our health care providers on National Nurses day. Thank you to everyone who has donated and shared the campaign. And thank you to everyone who is wearing a mask when they go out. You are doing so much by doing nothing. Stay safe, wash your hands, and if no one told you today, I love you!!!
